One of the topics proposed by @galenkp for this week forced me to change what I had planned to publish, to share a life story that I am going through, due to the overweight I have in my body.

For that reason, this publication can serve as an example to avoid those extra pounds that we have in our body and that, in many occasions, tend to be negative for our health.

I tell you that on April 30, 2025 I had to go to the hospital for an x-ray due to a serious injury in my right knee. After analyzing the x-ray, the doctor diagnosed that I have synovitis in my knee and fluid leaking.

When the doctor is explaining me the causes of the injury, he refers to the overweight that I have and that constitutes a negative aspect for my knee and health in general.

From there he recommended me to take medical rest to avoid greater evils, but, he told me that it was mandatory for me to lose weight.

Before going to the actions I am taking to lose the extra pounds I have in my body, I must say that this weight gain is the cause of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, bronchial respiratory diseases, among others. In addition, in many countries it is the cause of many deaths and serious diseases.

What is the ideal weight?

Although there are different criteria on the subject, I have always used a simple formula:

I subtract 100 from my height in meters and the result is what I should weigh in kilograms.

For example: My height is 1.83 meters, if I subtract 100, the result tells me that I should weigh 83 kilograms.

Currently, I weigh 111 kilograms, that is, 28 kilograms too much.

What are the immediate actions I started to take until I can complement them with physical exercises?

  • Change my eating routine and include more vegetables and fruits in my diet.

  • Avoid sugar consumption.

  • Drink water 29 minutes before meals.

  • Decrease to a minimum the consumption of pizzas, breads and pasta such as spaghetti.

  • When the medical rest is over, incorporate daily physical exercise to my life routine because it allows me to eliminate fat and incorporate health.

  • Consume fewer calories.

  • Increase the consumption of tea and ginger.

  • I eliminated the consumption of rice at dinner.

A final comment

For now I am on medical rest, but, I have started to perform the above mentioned actions and, although it is too early to see positive results I hope that these can help me to lose body weight because, almost at my 60 years old, every extra pound in my body is a potential danger to my health.

What do you think?
