Hi Movie lovers...
What movie do you watch nowadays?
To be honest, It was about 10 years ago I watched this movie a long time ago. Recently the song from this movie—you know Hindi movies have a lot of songs, suddenly played automatically on my playlist. That made me want to watch Ek Villain again. A fun fact about Ek Villain movie is adaptation from a South Korea movie entittled I Saw The Devil. That made me curious about the original movie. When I first watched this movie, I didn't know it was an adaptation from south korea movie. After several articles discussed it, I found out and hadn't had the chance to watch the original version until yesterday. I wanted to know how this original version tells the story.

I Saw The Devil vs Ek Villain
In one day I watched two films with the same theme. Of course I watched Ek Villain first, then moved on to the original film titled, I saw the devil.
I will explore both films, how filmmakers from different countries packaged this film and which film is more interesting—at least for me.
The Storyline
|
Ek Villain
|
|------------|
| Ek Villain tells the story of a mafia henchman named Guru who is known to be heartless. He even has difficulty expressing his feelings. One day, Guru was approached by Aisha who wanted to hire his services to kidnap someone. However, instead of stealing a significant figure, it turned out that Guru was ordered to kidnap an old man in a nursing home by his family. Aisha was very close to this man so she felt she had to free the old man and marry him to her sweetheart. Guru also felt cheated, a marriage for an old couple? Guru felt that Aisha was a strange person, until finally he found Aisha's journal containing her last hopes. Aisha admitted that her life would not be long and she wanted to do good things before she left forever. Guru finally gave in and wanted to make all of Aisha's last dreams come true and what he didn't realize was that he was starting to fall in love with Aisha. He just found out that Aisha's life would not be long after a few days with her. That's where Guru realized that he didn't want to lose Aisha.—uks, when I wrote this I wanted to cry. After the wedding, Guru accompanied Aisha to undergo treatment, until finally Aisha was declared cured. They started their new life, but a stranger suddenly ruined their short happiness. Aisha was killed by a serial killer when Guru got his first job. Then the film continues about how Guru looks for Aisha's killer and takes revenge. |

I Saw The Devil
|
|------------|
| I Saw The Devil told about a woman, Jooyeon, whose car broke down on a dark road. She had called for help and also her fiancé—Soohyun, but someone suddenly approached and offered to help. Jooyeon had refused but in the end the man suddenly attacked her and killed her. Even though Jooyeon had begged, the man ignored her. The next day Jooyeon's body parts were found, an investigation was carried out.—I really can't continue this storyline. The point is, after Jooyeon's body was identified, Soohyun searched for this serial killer who was starting to become disturbing. Even though in the end he found out the perpetrator, Soohyun didn't want to let the man be punished or killed. That's where Soohyun continued to follow the evil man and torture him. |
My Randomly Thought

This film opens with a tragic story and is then packed with a back and forth plot that will make you touched and hope that the tragic story was just a dream. The love story of Aisha and Guru is also very interesting and managed to make me cry when watching it. In my opinion long time ago, this is a romantic film with a happy ending, but I was wrong. This film has characters that are interconnected and throughout the film the relationship of each character develops and becomes strong. This is a thriller that will cut your heart. Although there are many songs in this film, it does not interfere with the story and aesthetics of the film at all. This film has become a favorite film that I will watch over and over again when I have free time. And I like the couple Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, I even made a fan fiction based on this couple. You can read it on wattpad with the same username, only it's in Indonesian hehehehe |

I Saw The Devil is a typical South Korean thriller and investigation film. This film contains a lot of horror. I even had to skip some scenes because I couldn't stand to watch it. Unlike the film adaptation, this film doesn't show a flashback about how the main character's fiancé fell in love with each other, so I didn't feel a cut in my heart when the fiancé was killed, all I felt was horror and a little bit trauma. Yup, in this film the couple is not married yet but the fiancé is already pregnant so that it further lowers the value of this film for me. |
As a melancholic person, I definitely choose Ek Villain as my favorite movie over I Saw The Devil.
