Hi everyone. Hope you all are well as always.

As stated in the title of this post, I am very proud that I am currently reviewing an animated film made by an animator from my country, namely Jumbo. This film was made by director Ryan A, involving dozens of animators who worked for a period of 5 years, and the good news is, this film has caught up with the highest grossing film revenue in my country. Yup, from the beginning of its screening on April 1st until today, this film is still showing in theaters. Isn't that great?

So, what is this Jumbo film about?

Let's get it!

JUMBO

Jumbo tells the story of a boy around 6 years old—who is very obsessed with a fairy tale book inherited from his father and mother. The fairy tale book was made especially for DON before they both died. DON never stops telling his friends about the contents of the fairy tale book entitled; Bubble Island.

One day, DON and his two friends, Nurman and Mae, register for an art performance in their village. DON, Nurman, and Mae work hard to perform as well as possible on the stage, but there is a child their age named Atta—who does not take DON's fairy tale book, even though their performance will be taken from the fairy tale book. Unexpectedly—at the headquarters, they meet Meri. A kind little ghost who needs the help of Don and his two friends to save his parents. Don initially did not want to ask for Meri's help, but Nurman and Mae kept insisting and made sure that his fairy tale book would be returned with Meri's help.

This is where their adventure begins...

My Rare Review

One of the reasons I watched this movie was because it went viral. Then I wanted to enliven this good and struggling work of the nation's children. You know that lately the movies that are showing in cinemas around me are strange and immoral movies. So, the presence of this Jumbo movie is like a breath of fresh air. I didn't want to miss the boat. Together with my co-workers, we watched it together and became proud souls after leaving the cinema.

Let's discuss it in terms of the story, and I will be subjective here.

For children's stories, the Jumbo movie has been agreed to be an animated film with child characters but has a complex story, not suitable for children at all. However, the filmmaker never said that this movie was for children. Jumbo was made for all ages, and I got a match for that. From my perspective, the story of this movie is not mature enough. It's like there's something that makes me wonder—why this and why that. However—we never ask why Luffy is so elastic, right, so I put that aside. I just hope—the animator director can remake an animated film with a really great story—maybe he can collaborate with many Indonesian children's book writers.

I don't understand animation—but in my opinion, as a layman in animation—the animation of the Jumbo film is really great. It's really cool to be able to involve many domestic animators and create a work as good as this together.

The dubbers appointed are a line of expensive actors and actresses so that when you watch this film, you feel that this film was not made carelessly. I really like the soundtrack entitled 'Selalu Ada di Nadimu' and 'Dengar Hatimu' sung by the child singers, Prince Poetiray (voice actor for Don) and Quinn Salman (voice actor for Meri). It's been a long time since I heard a song with lyrics as good as this and that for children. If you were me, you would know how proud you are of all the elements in this film.

I have heard that this movie also showing in the overseas cinemas, have you ever seen this movie? Tell me what do you think...

Thanks in advance, to read my blog and hope you like my post!
See you on the next post...
