5 Things I Love About the Project Blank UI

ICYMI, the Project Blank UI has officially launched. We've spent 2 years thinking about, designing and ultimately developing this backend + interface combo that will forever change the way that you use the Hive Blockchain.

The current status of the UI is Open Alpha. We'll be rolling out features each week for Open Alpha testers to utilize and give us feedback on. With that feedback, we'll be able to constantly improve the UI and keep pushing forward until Production Release -> when the UI actually replaces the current LeoFinance.io UI.

5 Things I Love About the Project Blank UI

1). The Focus on Engagement

Engagement is everything on Threads. We've completely changed the purpose and driving force behind LeoFinance's Web3 Experience.

I've been on Hive for a very long time and one thing that I've always enjoyed is engaging with people in the comments and also across various Discord servers. Being a part of the Hive community means being an active contributor AND member of "the Hive society".

Well, one thing that has always lacked is continuous, 24/7 quick engagements. You always had to make a post and then get some comments in order to engage with people. Then people still had to read your long-form posts, etc. and spend the time to engage with you. I'm not saying this is bad... I'm just saying that a better way for engagement exists and I believe we've achieved this with Threads.

Threads makes it stupidly easy to quickly and easily engage with hundreds of active Hivers. You can just head to https://alpha.leofinance.io and immediately jump into a variety of conversations. There's no prerequisite to write some long ass post or read some long ass post. You just hop in and get Threading.

The level of engagement that we're seeing on Threads is unprecedented. Since the new UI went live, we're seeing thousands of Threads being created on a daily basis... Chalk this up to things you love to see!

2). The Notifications Page

Okay the new Notifications page is a GAME CHANGER... It makes it so easy to engage with people. This ties directly into my #1 thing I love about the new UI: A focus on engagement!

On Hive, it's sometimes hard to keep your replies straight. 10 different people reply to 10 different threads + posts that you've created. How does one keep up with all of this?

If you're a power user of Hive like @taskmaster4450, how the hell are you going to keep the conversation flowing when you can't even find the people who are engaging with you?

Enter Notifications Page.

The Notifications Page was "inspired" by Twitter. I am a pretty heavy Twitter user and one thing I love that they have is the ability to never miss a reply that someone has made to your Tweets.

3). The Post Publishing Interface

I'm currently writing this post from the new Post Publisher UI. We made a lot of improvements here over the old UI + added some of the most highly requested features/bug fixes that we got over the years on the old LeoFinance.io interface.

A few of the most important things:

  1. Fixing beneficiaries (being able to set them and have them work 100% of the time)
  2. The triple scroll bar experience (see how each side works independently)
  3. The Post Preview... actually previewing your post (now it shows you exactly what your post will look like when its published)
  4. Overall aesthetic (so much more modern, wouldn't ya say?)

4). The Long-Form Reader Experience

Reading long-form content is so enjoyable on the new UI. I think a lot of people were concerned with how we would handle long-form. If Short-Form takes the focus, they asked, then how would Long-Form fit into the picture? Will long-form content phase out over time?

NO!

In fact, I think the long-form experience is 10x better on the new UI. We added some cool content discovery features as well as improving the text experience.

5). Account Switching (New)

I'm breaking the news on this first since I'm beating the official @leofinance post to the publishing table.

We just uploaded the latest feature for Open Alpha Testing. Many people were wondering why there was no logout button. That's because we had this feature on the board and waiting to be deployed.

Not only does it add the logout button, but we also added one of the most highly requested features by the LeoFinance community -> Account Switcher.

Just click on your username in the bottom left and you can see the "Switch Accounts" and "Logout" buttons.

As I'm writing this post, we're making one final update to this module. If you want to test it now, feel free. In the next 1-2 hours, we'll be pushing a visual update to it to include an indicator to show that you can click on your profile to get more options. We're also making it easier to add accounts to the "Switch Accounts" list.

To add an account, you just have to log out of your current account and then log in with the new account. Keep in mind that if you were logged in previously, then you will have to log in again to add the old account to it.
